"NOT ME BUT YOU • मैं नहीं आप" • Community Service & Social Development
The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Bihar National College is an integral wing governed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, and Patna University NSS Cell. Operating under the motto "NOT ME BUT YOU", it inculcates a sense of civic responsibility, social empathy, environmental stewardship, and leadership among students through dedicated community engagement.
NSS volunteers dedicate 120 hours of social service each year through regular campus activities and participate in a 7-day Special Rural Development Camp in adopted suburban communities and villages around Patna.
Cleanliness drives across college grounds, Ganga riverbanks, tree plantation in urban slums, and plastic waste eradication drives.
Mega blood donation camps conducted in partnership with PMCH Blood Bank and Indian Red Cross Society saving critical lives.
Youth awareness sessions on HIV/AIDS prevention, drug de-addiction, anti-tobacco rallies, and seasonal health checkup camps.
Evening coaching classes and digital literacy guidance for underprivileged children in nearby riverbank neighborhoods.
Every academic session, the NSS Unit adopts a nearby rural or peri-urban village for a week-long residential immersion camp. Volunteers carry out socio-economic door-to-door surveys, health & hygiene sanitization, construction of soak pits, road repairs, voter awareness rallies, and evening cultural chaupal programs.
Volunteers who complete 240 hours of regular social service over 2 years and attend 1 seven-day special camp are awarded the official Patna University NSS Certificate, providing bonus weightage in university admissions and government appointments.
